Ow ow ow ow ow ow.  Chronic pain sucks.  Fibromyalgia, burning mouth syndrome, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, oh my aching back, why me, God, why me?

While most of this site deals with emotional and mental pain, physical pain hurts too, dammit.  Here are some non-headache sites to help you deal with it.

go4hope.org Everything you ever wanted to know about Burning Mouth Syndrome.  No, not Burning Man, burning mouth.  I don't know what it is, but from what I can tell, it really, really sucks.  And crazy meds are often used to treat it.  That is, if they didn't cause it in the first place for some truly unlucky people.  If you have it and you need support, this is where you should be going.

.

About.com has a few pain-related fora:  Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Chronic Pain and Arthritis.  While the last one does doesn't fall under the category of neuropathic, some of these crazy meds have been used of late to help treat arthritis symptoms.  I highly recommend the about.com fora for quality information and support.

American Syringomyelia Alliance Project (ASAP) Community  the support you need for syringomyelia, Chiari malformation and related disorders.  If you know what those are, go there.  If you don't know it can be summed up by your spine wanting to kill you slowly and painfully and doctors wanting to save you with repeated painful treatments.  Hey, which sucks less, right?

Men with Fibro - Hey, guys get fibromyalgia too!  Dealing with meds, symptoms, treatments and life in general from a guy's perspective of the double-whammy stigmata of having a girlie disease that no one believes exists anyway so you should just cowboy up, quit whining and get on with your life.  Yeah, right.  Just get on with your life in near-constant pain!

efibro.com A support and information site that has active fora and informational pages dealing with both solutions and diagnosis of fibromyalgia.  Treatments discussed include traditional medications (usually antidepressants of some form) to complimentary therapies ranging from acupuncture to Yoga.

MediBoard Network - Although this is one of those sites that covers a lot of territory, most of what they cover is pain related.  They have your back if your spine is out of wack

United Brachial Plexus Network  A.k.a. Erb's Palsy.  This is a nerve injury, usually happening at birth, where nerves that are damaged control muscles in the shoulder, arm, or hand. Any or all of these muscles may be paralyzed.

tribe.net has a Chronic Pain tribe.  If you're part of a tribe, you know the deal.

The Open Directory Guide to Pain Support Groups - Not a hell of a lot.

If you know of any good pain support groups / fora / chat rooms where you don't have to register just to take a look (but I'm fine with guests not being able to post or otherwise participate, just being able to look around is my only criterion), send me an e-mail to jerod23 at gmail dot com and I'll check them out.  Even if you're starting your own let me know.  There's no guarantee I'll list it, but you never know.  English language is not a requirement.

The Overlords of the 12 Zernox Galaxies have compelled me through messages in the Sunday Chronicle to beg you for spare change.  So if this site has been of use and/or amusement to you, please see if you could

or visit the Donation Page if PayPal isn't your style.  Or our Mental Mall to make a purchase.  Better yet, if you run a business and want to advertise on Crazy Meds, see our page on ad rates and policies.  I'm all about fiscal transparency, so follow the money for full disclosure of my pitiful finances.

All rights reserved. No warranty is expressed or implied in this information. Consult one or more doctors and pharmacists before taking, or changing how you take any neurological and/or psychiatric medication. Your mileage may vary. What happened to us won't necessarily happen to you. Nobody on this site is a doctor, therapist, or a pharmacist. We don't portray them either here or on TV. Only doctors can diagnose and treat an illness. Some doctors tend to get pissed off by patients who know too much about medications, so tread lightly when and where appropriate. Diagnosing yourself from a website is like defending yourself in court, you suddenly have a fool for a doctor. Don't be a cyberchondriac, thinking you have every disease you see a website about, or that you'll get every side effect from every medication. Self-prescribing is just as dangerous.  All information on this site has been obtained through personal experience, the experiences of my friends, the experiences of people reported on online support groups, and from sources that are referenced throughout the site.  Know your sources!  As such the information presented here is not a substitute for real medical advice from your real doctor, just a compliment to it.  No neurologists, psychiatrists, therapists or pharmacists were harmed in the production of this website. All brand names of the drugs listed in this site are the trademarks of the companies listed after them in the pages about the drugs, even though those companies may or may not have been acquired by other companies who may or may not be listed in this site by the time you read this. Always read the PI sheet that comes with your medications and never ever throw them away.  If you didn't get a PI sheet, demand one.  Loudly.  Crazy Meds is not responsible for the content of sites we provide links to.  We like them, or they're paid advertisements, or they're something you should read to make an informed decision about a particular med.  Sometimes they're more than one of those things.  But what's on those sites is their business, not ours.  Very little information about visitors to this site is collected or saved. And from time to time I do look at search terms used to find it in an effort to make the information I present more relevant. Use only as directed. Void where prohibited.
