Sites with a Bit of Everything
These are sites that have information on a variety of flavors of wackiness.

NAMI - National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Currently the only group that gets any money from me. Your local NAMI affiliate can help you with referrals to doctors, lawyers, support groups, whatever it is you may need. No one else is working as hard to fight the stigma of mental illness as NAMI is. They also have information on meds and specific disorders.
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance - Mood disorder central. Psychiatrist references, support groups, the straight dope on clinical trials,
Internet Mental Health - Canadians get crazy too, eh. One of the best sites on the Internet for mental health issues, with Canadian monographs, research into meds, online self-tests and more. "A free encyclopedia of mental health information created by a Canadian psychiatrist, Dr. Phillip Long."
National Library of Health MedLine - Even more information from Uncle Sam. Hey, all you people living over in Forn Parts, feel free to use this information, too. I helped to pay for it, you have my permission. There are doctor referrals, health organizations and libraries in your part of the world, news, information on meds (although they confused all three valproates as being valproic acid, just like a lot of doctors do), and tons of information on specific disorders. As you can expect from a national library there is a wealth of information here, including data en español.
Dr Bob - Dr. Bob Hsiung has a swinging site of information about pharmacology, psychology and just a bunch of stuff. All the action is on the various fora, a.k.a. the pscycho-babble pages. But don't ignore all the really quality information that Dr. Bob has collected, some links to which will start appearing throughout this site.
About.com's Mental Health page - About.com's general mental health site, catching everything not covered by their specific sites.
Support 4 Hope - Wow, this is your one-stop-shop for everything under the sun. Bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, autism, ADD/ADHD, panic/anxiety, OCD, PTSD - they're all covered. There are fora, chat rooms, medication pages (mostly RXlist type stuff), crisis lines, just the works.
Dr. Phelps' Psych Education - Dr. Phelps explains what goes on with mood disorders, panic & anxiety, and OCD. And the treatment options available. It's an invaluable resource. He's a doctor who actually listens to patients, and informs you how to be a patient who can get your doctor to listen to you. While the focus is primarily on affective mood disorders, or the differently ordered moods (i.e. bipolar and depression), everyone can learn something from Dr. Phelps.
The Neurology Channel - Epilepsy, ADHD, Autism, Alzheimer's, Cerebral Palsy, Migraines, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Sleep Disorders - if there's some way your brain can hurt, it's covered at this site. Features a neurologist locator and a forum where you can ask questions of doctors.
Dr. Grohol's Psych Central - One of the oldest and largest mental health sites on the Net. Dr. Grohol covers every disorder imaginable with articles, quizzes, online tests, resources, and the usual pharmacy hand-outs on meds. The psychology information is where it's at, though, and that's hugely important too.
Tu Sitio en Salud Mental - It's like the Argentinean version of Internet Mental Health! Dr. Mariani has put together an extensive site covering meds, neurotransmitters, online tests, an online library, support groups, other sites of interest and stuff that I couldn't figure out because it's all in Spanish. But for everyone looking for information en español, this looks like a great place to start.
HealthyPlace.com - Where doctors and patients get together to talk about meds and disorders. Plus news, articles, blogs, online films and a weekly radio call-in show.
SANE Australia - mostly political site dealing with stigma and funding issues. Hey, you have to deal with the politics sometimes. Their international links page is a good source for global information that you're not finding here.
NAMI Japan - Genki desu ka? I stumbled across this site when trying to find a list of psychiatric medications available in Japan. The site is mostly in Japanese. And, being Japanese, they have a page of mental-illness related comics.
Open Directory for Mental Health - Literally thousands of web pages. Good luck.
See also our page of support groups for a little bit of everything.

Your mileage may vary. What happened to us won't necessarily happen to you. I am neither a doctor nor a pharmacist. I don't portray either here or on TV. Only a doctor can diagnose and treat an illness. Some doctors tend to get pissed off by patients who know too much about medications, so tread lightly when and where appropriate. Diagnosing yourself from a website is like defending yourself in court, you suddenly have a fool for a doctor. Don't be a cyberchondriac, thinking you have every disease you see a website about, or that you'll get every side effect from every medication. All information on this site has been obtained through personal experience, the experiences of my friends, the experiences of people reported on online support groups, and from sources that are referenced throughout the site. As such the information presented here is not a substitute for real medical advice from your real doctor, just a compliment to it. No psychiatrists or pharmacists were harmed in the production of this website. All brand names of the drugs listed in this site are the trademarks of the companies listed after them in the pages about the drugs, even though those companies may or may not have been acquired by other companies who may or may not be listed in this site by the time you read this. Always read the PI sheet that comes with your medications and never ever throw them away. If you didn't get a PI sheet, demand one. No information about visitors to this site is collected or saved.
