Does anybody out there take olanzapine twice a day instead of it all at once?

I ask because I am on 2.5mg olanzapine at night (I take it about 8pm) for anxiety and agitation. It seems to work well but I could swear it feels like it's wearing off around about 10 AM (I get up at 5AM). I wonder if taking another dose in the morning could help that.... I remember when I was on risperdal we had to space the dose out to twice a day. Perhaps this is what is happening here?

I take 2.5 twice a day. Like you, I found that I needed to space it out.

I have been wondering about this myself. I take 10mg at night but it feels like it has worn off during the daytime. Maybe I could split my pills and take 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night? I am curious if this would work better because right now I feel like I am just wasting the Zyprexa.

I have started taking my Zyprexa this way. So far, I have noticed a generally more relaxed mood. I don't have to take my Klonopin until later in the day, which is always a good thing. No unwanted sedation, either. It seems to be a good choice.

(YMMV of course)

Initially, my neurologist prescribed it 3 times a day.. 2.5-2.5-5mg. Now am taking it twice a day which is better.

I took it once a day, but have heard of others taking it twice a day. I am currently on Saphris and am having the same dilemma. It is actually indicated on the PI to be taken twice daily, yet it boasts a half-life of 25 hrs.. I have asked three different pdocs about this (my clinic keeps switching me around), and they all say that it is fine to take once a day and that, that is usually how they prescribe it but that I could take it twice a day. I have been, and it has been helping but I feel more blunted cognitively. Ugh, I guess that is the trade off...

xbmcx,

cognitive dulling can happen. you should try and add modafinil. also, don't know about saphris but isn't so bad with olanzapine. also, lamictal can keep things in check.
