I've been taking Protriptyline for about 4 1/2 weeks now. I started out taking 5mg twice a day for the first 3 weeks and have now been on 10 mg twice a day for 1 1/2 week now. Thus far I've experienced no improvement in mood. I really had high hopes for this drug.
I'm also coming off of Venlafaxine, I was on 300 mg, and am currently down to 37.5 mg. I'm currently taking Lamotrigine 200 mg and Saphris 10 mg.
Anyway, should I be feeling anything at all at this point?

I've tried several other drugs; the following with no success: Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor,--which I'm now coming off after being on it for a year--Wellbutrin, Abilify, Seroquel, Xanax, and a couple a other that I can't recall at the moment.

I'm wondering when I should give up on the Protriptyline and ask to try something different. It's been so very long since I've felt normal that I don't even care about feeling happy. I just want to be able to enjoy the things that matter to me.

10 mg is kinda low. You can go up to 60 mgs, the normal range is 15-40 mgs.

I'm actually on 20 mg right now, 10 mg twice a day. But I've only been on it for 1 1/2 weeks. Before--for the first 3 weeks--I was on just 10 mg.
Either way I guess it's still pretty low. I guess I was mostly wondering if it's normal to not feel any change at all at this point.

With every dose change you need to give it a full 6-8 weeks. Don't expect much other than some side effects during those weeks. Side effects generally go away.
