Im currently taking 50mg of luvox and have reccently gotten some swelling due to a new body piercing and wanted to take some ibprofen, but have red the drug to drug interaction warning against this. just how serious would it be if i just took one dose this one time? is it really going to do me any harm? or are there any other anti inflammatory drugs reccomended that arn't as ineractive with luvox? im still new to luvox and all these interactions make me kind of nervous.

thanks!

The ibuprofen should be fine unless you have a blood (bleeding) condition. There are some moderate interactions with your BC and Luvox -- increased plasma concentrations -- and BC with Topamax -- lowered efficacy of BC -- that you may want to discuss with your doc if they haven't been already considered.

well my dr told me about the interaction with my BC and topamax so i was switched to a higher estrogen of BC because i HAVE to be on the pill because of my polycystic syndrome, but i was not informed about any interactions with my BC and luvox.
although i have been noticing some symptoms such a increased acne, cramps, breast tenderness things that i dont usualy have and was wondering if this had anything to do with possible interactions. and you know i had just seen her yesterday and she increased the luvox..perhaps i be giving her a call.

I'm on Luvox 200mg per day and I take ibuprofen (200 to 600mg) usually at least once per week for muscle aches, and I haven't experienced any noticeable reactions to it. If you're referring to the increased risk of bleeding when combining an SSRI with an NSAID, I think that only becomes a problem if you take NSAIDs chronically or if you already have a blood condition, so I wouldn't think a single dose of ibuprofen would do more harm than good. But if you're really concerned, you can always call your doctor first just to make sure.
